What is

FOME — The Fear of Missing Everything — is the quiet, urgent recognition that we are alive at the single most consequential moment in human history. We stand on the threshold of a world where the ancient constraint of scarcity could finally be lifted. Clean energy, advanced AI, and breakthroughs in biotechnology are converging to meet every material human need and give every person on Earth a real chance to flourish.

And yet… we might miss it.

Not because the technologies won’t arrive — they are already arriving — but because we could fail to navigate the narrow bridge before us. One side threatens capture and control: concentrated power that hoards the benefits of abundance and rigs systems to preserve privilege. The other side threatens surrender: fatalism, doomerism, or the quiet belief that nothing better is possible, which leaves promising technologies untended or misused. Below us: everything we have ever learned as a species — our science, institutions, ethics, and hard-won social gains. Above us: the closing roof of time.

This site exists because that fear is real, and because it does not have to be the final word.

The forthcoming book is my attempt — as a working GP who witnesses the human cost of scarcity every day — to offer a clear diagnosis, a credible prognosis, and a practical treatment plan for our civilisation, but a book alone is not enough.

FOME is also a movement. This website is where that movement begins: where conversations start, where Salons form, and where ordinary people come together to make sure we do not miss the future we could build.

The fear is understandable. The hope is reasonable. The work is ours — together.

Welcome to FOME.
